It has been a busy year of music making here at Lowell! Students have drummed, sang, danced, played xylophones, added sounds to children's literature, and more. Our intermediate choir just participated in this year's SJMEA Elementary Choir Festival over the past weekend, and represented Lowell with wonderful musicianship. (Our students are in blue/white in the photo below)
Our new school year has arrived and it's time for more music making! I am looking forward to seeing familiar faces and all of the new student musicians joining our Lowell community. Keep an eye out for enrichment program sign-ups as there will again be a Primary (K-2) and Intermediate (3-5) Choir.
Thank you to all of the Lowell students, staff, and parents for a great school year! I wish you all a healthy and joyful summer and look forward to making more music here next year.
Our 2nd graders are diving into a fun unit that is using every xylophone we have. A big thank you to our PTA for providing the funds to repair these gorgeous instruments.
But the music is so delightful, so as long as you're home today- let them play let them play let them play!
For those of you who have instruments at home, I hope you and your kids can take advantage of the time to have a home "jam" session [voices count too!]. It has been lovely making music with Lowell students again and I am looking forward to some exciting activities this month. The Music and P.E. departments are teaming up to teach a dance unit to students K-5 in January. If you stop in on a Monday or Tuesday, you can find your students' grade level all in the gym during their music time. Feel free to join in the dance!
Primary and Intermediate Choir sign-ups are also open again from now until January 11th. The more the merrier! Our Intermediate music students made their own drum today! They loved learning this simple way to make an instrument at home.
Thanks to generous folks that saw the project the music program will now have a dedicated IPad to enhance our curriculum.
Check out the project below- it's halfway funded already!
